Do students think best when on their feet? A new study by the Texas A&M University in America indicates they do.

Ranjana Mehta, assistant professor at the Texas A&M School of Public Health, researched freshman high school students with those who used standing desks. Testing was performed at the beginning and again at the end of their freshman year.
德州农机大学公共卫生学助理教授伦加纳·梅塔调查了那些使用站立式课桌的高一新生。调查结果分别取自新学年的开始阶段以及期末阶段。
“Test results indicated that continued use of standing desks was associated with significant improvements in executive function and working memory capabilities,” Mehta said. “Changes in corresponding brain activation patterns were also observed.”
梅塔说道：“实验结果显示，持续使用站立式课桌（学生）的执行力和工作记忆容量都有显著提高。同时我们观察到相应的大脑激活模式也发生了相应的变化。”
“Interestingly, our research showed the use of standing desks improved neurocognitive function, which is consistent with results from previous studies on school-based exercise programs,” Mehta added.
梅塔补充说：“有趣的是，我们的调查表明，使用站立式办公能够改善神经认知功能，这和此前的学校运动项目研究结果是一致的。”
Continued investigation of this research may have strong implications for policy makers, public health professionals and school administrators to consider simple and sustainable environmental changes in classrooms that can effectively increase student’s energy expenditure and physical activity as well as enhance cognitive development and education outcomes.

Kay Pike, a designer and model from Calgary, Canada, spent up to 15 hours recreating these comic book superheroes and villains on her body. She said she fully enjoyed the painting process.

Despite painting herself naked, the 28-year-old, who has more than 12,000 fans on Instagram, used a clever layer of latex to ensure the painting followed the contours of her body.

Kay said, “I have always loved dress up. I found cosplay was a great way to interact and enjoy socializing at conventions.”
