1. worthwhile adj.重要的；值得做的
（教材P23）Even though being a camper has its challenges, I feel it is worthwhile.
尽管露营有它的挑战，我觉得这是值得的。
（1）It is worthwhile to do/ doing sth. 值得做某事
（2）be(well) worth doing… （非常）值得做……

It’s worthwhile reading/ to read literary books because they can help us to know more about the society and life.

（1）worth后加名词、代词或动词-ing形式，在句中作表语；而worthy和worthwhile为形容词，既可作表语又可作定语。
（2）be worth后跟动词-ing形式作宾语，用主动形式表被动意义。
（3）表示“很值得……”时，用副词well作状语。
2. enthusiastic adj. 热心的，热衷的
（教材P24）With life being made up of ups and downs, it is not always easy to maintain a good and enthusiastic attitude.
生活总是起起伏伏，保持一种良好和热情的态度并不总是容易的。
（1）be enthusiastic about(doing) sth. 对（做）某事热情 （2）enthusiasm n. 热情；热心 （3）enthusiastically adv. 热情地；热心地 |
Although exhausting, it gave me energy, enthusiasm and happiness.

3. upset adj. 心烦意乱的，烦恼的
（教材P25）Why are you so upset?
你为什么这么烦恼？
（1）be upset over/ about/ at sth. 为某事心烦/难过 be upset to do sth. 对做某事感到不安/难过 （2）upset v. (upset, upset) 使烦恼；使生气；搅乱 upset oneself about sth. 为某事而烦恼 It upsets sb. to do sth./ that… 让某人心烦的是…… |
He was upset about/ over/ at not being invited to the party.
没有被邀请去参加聚会，他很难过。
He was upset to know that his application for the job was refused.
得知他对这个工作岗位的申请遭到拒绝时，他感到很难过。
（1）upset作为形容词时，只作表语，不作定语。
（2）作动词时upset的过去式与过去分词形式均为upset，现在分词形式为upsetting。
4. elect v. 选举，推选
（教材P25）You ran for Head of the Student Committee but weren’t elected.
你竞选学生委员会主席，但没有当选。
（1）elect sb. to... 选举某人进入…… elect sb. as/ to be... 选举某人为…… elect to do sth. 选择做某事 （2）election n. 选举 run for an election 参加竞选 |
If elected, the party has promised a new deal for teachers.
该党承诺如果当选将给教师更好的待遇。
You can elect to delete the message or save it.
你可以选择删除或者保存信息。
so… that… 如此……以至于……
（教材P23）On the fourth day, I was so tired that I even didn’t want to get out of bed.
第四天，我太累了，甚至都不想起床。
so… that… 表示“如此……以至于……”，其中that引导结果状语从句。
（1）so… that…常见句型： so+ adj./ adv.+ that… so+ adj.+a(n)+可数名词单数+ that… so+ many/ few/ much/ little（少）+n.+ that… （2）such… that…也可表示“如此……以至于……”，其基本结构为： such+ a(n)+ adj.+可数名词单数+ that… such+ adj.+可数名词复数/不可数名词+ that… |
It was so interesting a story that we all forgot the time.
→It was such an interesting story that we all forgot the time.
这里一个如此有趣的故事，以至于我们全都忘了时间。
There were so many cars in the street that I couldn’t get through.
